In nearly all reviews the BMW X5 is described as being one of the best luxury 4×4s on the market, it may lose out to other models on it’s off road capabilities but 27,000 people in 2009 surely can’t be wrong.
With a top speed of 149mph the latest model can power through 0-60mph in a touch over six seconds, add to this the 347bhp and stunning extras such as parking proximity sensors as standard make this a brilliant option for would be leasers.
In previous reviews we have highlighted BMW’s infamous ‘iDrive’ system but people may be please to know that this offering from the German manufacturer comes without the secondary control system.
In the video review below Jeremy Clarkson puts the 2009 model through its paces on the top gear test track and gives his usual honest opinion.
Although BMW have previously marketed the X5 as a “luxury crossover’ the previous models have been criticised for their off road capabilities with Carkson himself not being the biggest fan.
As a result of this BMW added the new xDrive system to the X5 which has been hailed as a huge improvement in the automotive press giving greater stability when used in difficult conditions.
The xDrive model has also found favour for its fuel consumption with even the diesel model being described as “an economic choice” in The Times newspaper
