Peugeot RCZ The TT Lookalike

Filed under: Peugeot Reviews — mark @ 7:15 pm

Recently the adverts of the new Peugeot RCZ hit the TV and anyone who has any love of good looking motor cars, must have held their breath of this new creation. The first observation is it looks like an Audi TT form certain angles and surely this was deliberate, the send observation is the twin bubble like roof that could remind you of the bat-mobile in the 60’s TV series, but the one on the Peugeot is just that little bit subtle.

However when you look at the car face it looks too much like a Peugeot, in that you would not know it was the RCZ, something I think owners would want. But the rear and side view is a totally different story, this is just good looking stuff and to sure those Audi owners will at least take a look at the new offering.

As we move inside it is a few notches up from the typical Peugeot but not quite up to the Audi standards. The Fifth Gear report below suggests it is a good drive but as good as the VW Scirocco, although as good if not better that the Audi TT (which doesn’t have a good reputation for driveability).

Costs start from £20450 6 speed manual , diesel from £22250 6 speed, OTR, but choosing higher spec can take the price up in to the mid £20’s very comparable to Audi TT, but about the same as the Volkswagen.

As far as the lease market does, it will be difficult to accurately state a monthly premium as the hasn’t even been released yet (13days and counting), so who knows what the residual values of the car will be, but there will definitely be some who will be choosing a Peugeot RCZ leasing deal no matter what the price, as it will be one of those, “just got have” cars .

Peugeot are not allowing us to embed their TV ad, so here is the Fifth Gear report.

The Day Mercedes F1 Car Comes To Wilton

Filed under: Uncategorized — mark @ 12:38 pm

Our main Leasebam office is based at the Wilton Centre at the old ICS offices in Teesside, as we are with a chemical development area, PerkinElmer a partner with Mercedes GP, turned up with last years Brawn GP car in the Mercedes Colours. .

This was a great photo opportunity after we convinced ourselves that lead generation to the motoring industry was in fact related to Formula One. PerkinElmer have labs based at Mercedes GP and analyse oil and other factors of the racing car to determine wear and usability of the car. It was interesting  stuff, now lets get those Silverstone tickets found.

Ministerial Cars being Cut Down

Filed under: news — mark @ 1:41 pm

As part of the government’s cutbacks David Cameron has announced that ministerial cars to politicians who are not at risk to security will be cut and will account for a third of the budget for cars. Only those who need bullet proof vehicles will get a car on a regular basis. Financial stressed times or boom, it is still surprising to here there were around 171 cars being paid for by the tax payer, to be used for whatever purpose they needed.

Now politicians will need to use whatever is available from the pool of cars or in most cases get public transport. The saving will account for around £2m plus not a great saving, but save the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves as they say.

It does ask the question though, how are these vehicles bought of financed and are there better options out there, such as leasing or contract hire. Of course we are biased, but at the same time curious to see that even if the current set up saves money, could more be saved by better vehicle management, it is amazing how better deals can appear if it is your money you are spending and not others.

There is another argument, that it is not just MPs who should lose their car perks, there are other civil servants out there being ferried around in expensive cars and when other options could be considered. MP Chris Mullen Makes his point on this BBC magazine report.

Looking For Confidence

Filed under: news — mark @ 9:31 pm

All businesses look for confidence in the economy before making long term commitments, they need to make sure they can still survive when the going gets tough and financial pressures are high. The UK now has a new coalition government and is not shy in telling the masses that as a country we are broke and before we move forward there needs to be some serious savings in public spending and difficult choices.

Listening to the doom and gloom does not inspire confidence to small businesses although the financial market probably like what is being said.  If unemployment rises from the cuts, will it spread into the private sector and are businesses prepared to commit to long terms financial decisions like car lease? These are all questions car lease brokers are asking themselves as they listen to the new coalition being sworn in today, just after £6.2bn are announced to the world, with a statement that suggests this is just the beginning.

We already know that up to now the Business Sector will get the biggest cuts and we are still unsure how this affects local RDA’s which many small businesses rely on for support. It is a wait and see game, that many car lease suppliers just don’t want to wait for, they want to see optimism and businesses ready to commit to their new executive car.

The good news prior announced recently but relates to a period before the election, is that car production is once again up and even though there is caution in the figure, it is a far cry from how the motoring market was a year ago. An indicator of how things will pan out will be next months figures, will production continue to rise or will it level off showing a lack of confidence? A lot of questions where only time has the answer.
